Sustainability

Elizabeth, NJ Charging Station

5,500 Solar Panels at Elizabeth, NJ Facility

  • As part of ICT’s (International Cargo Terminals) continued Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) efforts and strategies to drive accountability today for a more sustainable tomorrow, ICT (International Cargo Terminals) has committed internal resources in 2023 to collaborate with our accounts, suppliers, and stakeholders to develop a more strategic approach to ESG.
  • We are mindful of our opportunity and responsibility to seek a more sustainable path in our business practices. We will do this for the protection of our environment and planet for existing and future generations. In addition, we will continually evaluate how we can create unique logistics solutions that deliver value with best-in-class transportation options as well as ESG awareness and consideration. We are determined to make a positive difference.
  • ICT initiated already in 2011 a more sustainable way to operate. At our Elizabeth facility we installed 5,500 solar panels on the roof in a joint collaboration with the energy company Renewvia, and these panels has contributed significantly to our consumption of electricity (up to 85-90 %). In the same year we invested in our first electric forklifts (3). However we did not stop there. Over the last 2 years, our renewal of forklifts in our fleet is now almost 100pct. We are today operating 6 electric reach trucks and 8 regular sit-down fork-lifts.
  • ICT similarly supplemented our forklift fleet in Atlanta with 4 regular electric sit-down forklifts, 2 in our Kearny, NJ facility and Miami will be next. We are committed to only acquire electric fork-lifts for our fleet renewal going forward. It is our goal to have 95 pct of all our forklifts to be electric by 2030.
  • Further initiatives includes the following :
    – Led motion sensor lighting in all warehouse
    – Introduction of paperless process and WMA with digital and IPAD integration, which reduce paper use significantly.
    – Use and continue explore the utilization of renewable and or recycled products for packaging by joining forces with vendors that share the same values.
